When you read a review, please note the date. Things might have changed since then, for any number of reasons; I did not want what I wrote before to appear to be a standing recommendation.

We ordered take out from Duck Lee again recently. I noticed the careful cutter I mentioned before wasn't there. The gentleman who took our order before was doing the cutting. I ordered a whole roast duck, and a pound of roast pork.

We noticed the difference after I took our order home; the cutting and arrangement were completely different - in a word, messy. I don't know if there were any changes behind the scenes (in the kitchen), or if skill in cutting matters that much, but we no longer enjoyed the taste as much.

If I don't see a return of the head cutter, next time, I will take my chances in Honolulu's Chinatown...

>>Duck Lee specializes in roast items, including roast duck, pei pa duck, char siu, roast pork and spare ribs. You can also order combination plates at the counter.

>>Our favorite is their whole roast duck. Although there are numerous establishments on Oahu offering this, theirs is special, in our opinion.

>>When my turn came and the gentleman at the counter took my order, he said there would be a "couple minutes" wait. There was only one (other) person doing the chopping, and he was busy working on previous orders. The pace seems to proceed more leisurely than at, say, Honolulu's Chinatown. He appeared to be in no hurry, but it was worth the wait.

>>The duck was carefully cut and chopped, and placed in a styrofoam plate with two containers of sauce. I hurried home…
>>
>>The skin appears charred, but that adds to the flavor and texture - I recommend it be eaten while still hot (not reheated). Try it without the included sauce first, that is the test of its inherent flavor…
