Yesterday, craving something different, I decided to give Gina's B-B-Q another try. From their website:
"We do our best to provide mouth-watering Korean foods, and treat all of our customer as our family. We provide generous portions of delicious food at a very reasonable price."
I had also read about their large portions and friendly service at other websites.
When I entered, I took a quick look at the menu, then stood at the counter to indicate I was ready to order (I already knew what I wanted). The young lady there didn't immediately acknowledge my presence, even though there was no one ahead of me in line. She seemed preoccupied with other matters. Perhaps if I had come on a different day, or time of day, or if another person had waited on me, I might have received the warm welcome I had been lead to expect.
When she finally took my order, she was strictly businesslike - I was used to this from other places. I ordered B-B-Q Beef (Bulgogi), $6.50 plus tax. Afters only a few minutes wait, another, older, woman called out my order, and allowed me to select the four included "vegetable" dishes. I was disappointed there were no potatoes. I took my plate lunch home and opened it. My first impression was that I could finish it with room to spare... and then proceeded to do just that (finished it with room to spare). It tasted "okay". I have been to several quality Korean restaurants with native Koreans, so my standards may be "different" from those of other reviewers. I've come to feel that, when it comes to eating Korean, it's worth paying a bit more for premium tasting food, rather than relatively low prices for so-so food.
Gina's seems to have a loyal following, and those people are happy with what they get. Mine are just the honest views of one person, likely in the minority. I encourage you to try eating there for yourself, and form your own opinion.
