Here are some of my favorite plate lunches on Oahu. (Even if your tastes and mine don't agree, you'll at least know what to bring me for lunch ):

Giovanni's Original White Shrimp Truck

Comments: Although the sign says their Shrimp Scampi is "the best", we always order their Hot and Spicy when in Kahuku (sometimes going out of our way to be in Kahuku). We like our hot food hot!

TheBus: From Ala Moana Shopping Center, take number 55 Kaneohe-Circle Isle. After passing the Polynesian Cultural Center, first look for a sign that says you're in "Kahuku", then watch on the right side of the road for a white, graffiti-covered truck and/or their sign which reads "Giovanni's Original White Shrimp Truck".

Number 52 Wahiawa-Circle Isle also goes by there from the other direction, taking longer, but if you're planning to "circle the isle" by bus anyway, either way may do.
Rainbow Drive-In

Comments: Teriyaki beef, boneless chicken, mahi mahi with rice and macaroni salad. I had this yesterday. Generous portions at a reasonable price. (All their prices are tax included - so the price you see is what you pay.)

TheBus: From Waikiki, take the number 13 that reads "Waikiki - Campbell Ave" ("Liliha" goes in the opposite direction). Get off on Kapahulu Ave. at Harpo's Pizza. If you reach the terminus, you've past it - just walk back one bus stop.
Korean BBQ Corner

Comments: Flame-grilled pork chops, brown gravy with mushrooms and onions, rice, mac salad.
(Their Hamburger Steak is served the same way - in case it's not Monday when you're in the area.)

TheBus: From Waikiki, take the number 19 or 20, get off at KMart. "Walking distance" from Hilo Hattie (Nimitz Hwy).
