Body:

I have finished Volume I, Kana Version and have moved on to Volume II, Kana Version (see Making the Transition from Rōmaji to Kana). I am currently not taking any formal classes, I continue to study the Japanese language on my own.

Volume II is challenging - and interesting... Previously, I had no particular interest in kanji... This has changed. Volume II introduces some 220 kanji and, having dove in, I find examining the relationships between words facinating. The same kanji can be used in two different words, may be pronounced the same or differently, but retains the same meaning...

I considered publicly posting new kanji as I learn them, but decided not to for different reasons:
  1. Feedback is rare - this I have known for years, since my freeware programming days, throughout the years of my hosting Web sites.
  2. Really, kanji taken out of context has little meaning, besides the stroke count and order won't be known unless a person takes the time to study.
  3. It may be a disservice to the authors and publishers of the text - I don't know.

I will continue to compose in an "online personal journal" format, without going into private or, what I deem to be, inappropriate detail.

If I appear to be silent for days, even weeks, at a time, this does not mean there is nothing going on... Quite the contrary...
